June 2020: Nothing you can do about it?

Jun 1, 2020 | Word of the Month

Often we find our way into circumstances over which we have no control or influence. We might suddenly fall ill, or perhaps become involved in an accident through no fault of our own. We might unexpectedly receive notice that we are about to lose our job or our place to live. These and other such events or incidents might well come along to make our lives difficult. Most of the time, we come to the conclusion: “There is simply nothing you can do about it. Might as well get used to it. There is nothing you can do in this case!”

This may be true, but that does not mean God cannot do anything about it!

Paul and Silas could not do anything about the fact that they had been thrown into jail. They did not even have a lawyer who could plead their case on their behalf. But they did have their faith! This faith gave them the certainty that nothing is impossible for God. And lo and behold: God sent them an angel to free them in a miraculous way.

Even when there is nothing we can do about it, as children of God we need never resign ourselves to our fate. If it is God’s will, He will go to work on our behalf!
